When Cogeco was redesigning their website, we needed a system for landing pages and emails to make team collaboration easier. Another designer on the team started most of the work. After they left, I took over the responsibility along with the team of great designers to continue adding more components and ensured everything stayed consistent as the project grew.

Documentation is always included on the same page as the component this was to explain any use cases that were created. This consisted of:
Picture examples so that it was clear what we were talking about
Rules of when to use the component and how to use the component
A clear explanation for what this element is and how it is typically used, occasionally accompanied by dos and don’ts for context and clarification.
Email Example
The team started to use existing compoennts or added new icons everytime the email was being created. The symbols were in the syetm along with the modules and icons.
