Here’s how we made it 25% easier for Lyft users to connect with Venmo, making it smoother to pay for rides!

Problem

Riders found it tricky to split fares with friends and family on Lyft. With the holidays approaching, this was a big concern. The current payment setup wasn't user-friendly for dividing costs among passengers, leading to confusion and delays.

Research and Insights

We studied and got presented to the relied on valuable insights provided by Lyft’s dedicated research team. Their comprehensive research helped shape our design process and ensured our solutions were well-informed and user-centric.

USER FEEDBACK

The research team conducted comprehensive surveys and collected detailed feedback from Lyft riders. They found that many users struggled with splitting fares when traveling with friends and family, especially during busy holiday periods. This significant pain point highlighted the need for a more intuitive fare-splitting solution.

Competitor Analysis

Their analysis of competitors, such as Uber, which already offers a fare-splitting feature, underscored the importance of this functionality. The research showed that having a seamless fare-splitting option could significantly enhance user satisfaction and help Lyft stay competitive.

market TRENDS

The team’s market analysis revealed a growing preference for digital wallets and peer-to-peer payment systems. This was particularly true among younger demographics who prioritized convenience and speed. Integrating Venmo with Lyft aligned with these market trends, promising a positive reception.

Goals

Our task was to design a landing page that effectively informed users about this new feature, highlighted its benefits, and guided them through the process of connecting Venmo to the Lyft app.

Approach

Worked with existing UI components to build a wireframe. Colbored with the copywriter and the PM closely to build a number of solutions to present to the stkeholder. Leveraging Lyft's design system, we crafted a seamless fare-splitting feature using Lyft's components.

Hi Fidelity

We examined Venmo’s brand and Lyft’s previous partnerships. This ensured our design maintained a consistent tone and style, creating a cohesive and trustworthy user experience.

01

Informing about Venmo

We decided to keep the hero section the Venmo color with a CTA that would take users directly to the app to connect it to their app. We also added an illustration to signify the key message of this campaign.

02

Benfits of Venmo

To tell the users about the benefits, we decided to show that through a mockup of the app interface. We also highlighted the various benefits that users would have if they pay via Venmo.

03

How to set up your account

To guide the users on how the app would work, we showed a step-by-step way of connecting Venmo in the app. We supported this by adding an illustration of a rocket to signify that they're ready to start.

Result

Through in app analytics we found out that there was a 25% increase in users connecting Venmo in their Lyft app as a payment method, and a 30% rise in transactions made via Venmo. This data-driven approach not only validated our design decisions but also directly contributed to achieving our campaign objectives effectively.
